1 Week Pre-Op

You’ll know from my last post that I now have a date for my laparoscopy which I’m having on 28th October (in one week!) It’s all happened very quickly and I did not expect it to be this early. I’ll tell you what I know so far about my surgery but i’ll also update you more after I’ve had it.

So, because of the pandemic I have to have a COVID text 72 hours before my operation because they obviously don’t want it being brought into the hospital. Once I’ve had the test I have to self isolate along with my family so I don’t catch it in between the test and the surgery. After my surgery I also have to self isolate for 14 days as the general anesthetic makes you more susceptible to infection and they don’t want anything getting in the way of recovery. I have to be at the hospital for 7am on the day of surgery which means I’ll probably be having my operation in the morning so, hopefully I’ll be out by mid-afternoon and able to go home and rest.

Also, because of COVID I’m not allowed any family inside the hospital with me so once I’ve been dropped off I’m on my own. I’m personally not too worried about this because I know the staff at the hospital are lovely and I’ve had general anesthetic twice before and never had any problems.

I’m feeling pretty positive about surgery because I’m so excited to be able to get on with my life again. My main worry is what the Consultant will have to report to me post-surgery in regards to what they found and whether it is going to affect things like my fertility. I’m pretty sure that these are all normal worries but I’m concerned none the less.

I’m going to detail what I take to hospital in another post a bit closer to the time once I’ve got it all figured out.

Keep your fingers crossed for me guys!x
